As per the guide, Lenskart allowed employees to wear hijabs, but didn\u2019t allow employees to wear\u00a0<em>bindis\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0<em>kalawas\u00a0<\/em>(Hindu religious threads). After much outrage, Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal had written a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/peyushbansal\/status\/2044452622766424406?s=20\">post<\/a>\u00a0on X, initially calling the document \u201cinaccurate\u201d, but said that it didn\u2019t reflect their present guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"876\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/officechai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-36.png?resize=640%2C876\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-60405\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/officechai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-36.png?resize=748%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 748w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/officechai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-36.png?resize=219%2C300&amp;ssl=1 219w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/officechai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-36.png?resize=768%2C1051&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/officechai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-36.png?w=789&amp;ssl=1 789w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After Bansal had been even more vociferously attacked on social media for his response \u2014 he didn\u2019t address why the policy existed in the first place, or shared the updated new policy \u2014 he had come up with another post. This time, he said that the policy had contained an \u201cincorrect line\u201d. \u201cIt contained an incorrect line about bindi\/tilak that should never have been written and does not reflect our values or actual practice. When we discovered this on February 17, well before this became a public conversation, we immediately removed it,\u201d he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/peyushbansal\/status\/2044632868287381708?s=20\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This however was proven to be inaccurate by former Lenskart store manager Akash Falake, who <a href=\"https:\/\/officechai.com\/stories\/exclusive-a-lenskart-employee-had-been-protesting-no-bindi-policy-since-november-says-he-was-fired-for-raising-issue\/\">shared emails <\/a>he&#8217;d been sending to Lenskart management about the discriminatory policy since November last year. Falake had first approached HR, and over the next few months approached Lenskart&#8217;s legal team, and finally filed a complaint with the Maharashtra government and also written to CM Devendra Fadnavis when Lenskart didn&#8217;t change its policy.
